The Uffizi

Uffizi features some of the extraordinary masterpieces of Italian art. The building of this museum was once a government office constructed by Vasari but later it was transformed into an art museum. There are various artworks displayed here ranging from the works of Duccio to Giotta. In the several rooms at the museums, the visitors will find captivating 10 to 14 famous paintings. The amazing paintings of Botticelli representing religion are must-watch. The Uffizi Gallery has also established a book shop now. There is a whole new floor recently constructed.

 

The Bargello

As a remarkable museum among all the other Florence museums, this museum features a large variety of statues and monuments with art. It was constructed in 1255 and was a political location. The room located behind the ticket office is filled with many extraordinary works and ancient treasures in this museum. The museum's second room displays the amazing works of Donatello. There is also a famous statue of St George. Moreover, in Bargello, there are amazing collections of works made from glass or ivory. You can also see some Islamic art here, plus Bargello was Italy's first national museum.

 

Palazzo Pitti

The Medici family once used to live in Palazzo Pitti. It was constructed in 1457, and now is a museum with several galleries and rooms. The building of this museum was designed by Brunelleschi, and it is home to approximately 500 paintings. The Boboli Gardens are also located at the back of the building, being an infamous place for a good stroll. In the gardens, there is a fountain known as Isolotto, make sure to check that out!

 

Palazzo Strozzi

Palazzo Strozzi is one of the best museums in Florence. It has many modern art collections and hosts several global exhibitions. This museum is not crowded at all compared to other Florence museums. The art performances of Ai Weiwei and Marina Abramovic are held here, moreover, it is a great traditional center of arts with interactive concerts, talks, events, and workshops with theatrical acts.

 

Galleria Dell'accademia

This museum is the most visited one after the Uffizi Gallery. It is home to the famous statue of David crafted by Michelangelo. Florence Accademia has a diverse collection of paintings. The famous statue made by Michelangelo was completed in 1504 when Michelangelo was in his twenties. This statue has been showcased through this museum to people for almost 400 years now. However, just by this captivating statue, you can witness the incomplete St Mathew crafted by Michelangelo. This place is usually crowded; thus, it's recommended to book your Accademia Florence tickets before your visit so you can cut out the huge queues!

 

Museo Galileo

This scientific museum showcases some of the real instruments of Galileo's. The instruments are displayed on the first floor, among them is his awesome telescope that he used to learn about the four moons of Jupiter. The same floor also has the tooth and finger bones of Galileo. The second floor of the museum has well-maintained mechanical and scientific equipment. There are many electronic machineries, clocks, and surgical equipment with wax models. On the last ground floor, there is an interesting area for children where scientific rules are explained.

 

Museo Dell Opera Del Duomo

The removed art of Baptistery, Campanile, and Duomo is kept museum, however, the art had to be removed from the buildings for conservation reasons. The museum is home to many artworks by artists such as Michelangelo and Donatello. The museum was re-established in 2015 and was rebuilt with an eighteenth-century theater. The best part about this museum is a massive lit hall on the ground floor featuring the Michelangelo Pieta, which was made when Michelangelo was in his eighties. It was one of the last works he did before he died.
 

Leonardo da Vinci

Leonardo da Vinci Museum Florence is an indulging museum dedicated to the works of Leonardo Da Vinci. Da Vinci Museum Florence displays the remarkable machines and mechanisms crafted by him with his famous codes. There is a giant tank, the worm screw, and a vertical Ornithopter with many other inventions present in this museum and it has been operating for almost 20 years now and offers direct manual experiments of the machines displayed.
